Underwater
We specialize in non-destructive sampling of marine biota to assess aquatic population abundance, distribution, diversity, length, frequency, and biomass. This includes image based techniques like underwater stereo video includes baited remote underwater video systems (BRUVS), diver-operated stereo video (DOV), remote-operated vehicles (ROVS), as well as diver-based surveys, manta tows, and tagging and tracking of marine fauna.
These tools have been used to derive data for a number of different marine applications, including:
Fisheries: abundance, size, frequency, biomass
General biodiversity, biogeography, ecology and demography surveys
Aquaculture stock assessment
Marine park planning and management
Spatial and temporal effects of sanctuaries
Environmental impact assessments
Demersal reef fish, shark and ray surveys
Photogrammetry and 3D modelling
We collect data to produce models of benthic organisms and habitats. These can be used for monitoring spatio-temporal change in coral reef population dynamics, complexity and more.
Engineering
We design and build custom camera systems for a range of underwater applications.
